I don't know what happened but somehow I got boxed into a place where people my age and younger are all getting married or having babies. What just happened? Did we flash back to the 1950s? Damn. Maybe it's me. Maybe it's that I've been living in SoCal for too long (where life is all about perception and flash and not about reality). Maybe it's the recession. Maybe people feel that they need to lock down their special someone because they finally realized that money can't buy everything and that love is the only thing that matters. How would the whole financial fiasco explain away why people spend a ton of money on a wedding or on supporting a new kid? It's beyond me.
On the flip side, I have also heard of a lot of people who are breaking up. The financial burdens or stresses of life are pushing couples to the brink of patience, understanding and nerves. This trend is oddly more rational to me. I feel more comfortable with things breaking down at this particular moment in our nation's history than I do with a happily ever after storyline. What's your take on this phenomenon?
