"I must Create a System, or be enslav'd by another Man's;
I will not Reason and Compare: my business is to Create."- William Blake
We were thinking about the Olympians we went to school with and how amazing they were. For instance, how do you find out you are good at pole vaulting? Exactly. Trial and error can only get you so far. Even though it is kind of crazy to think about it and compare/compete with people so obviously talented was nuts, it begged the question of "What is my talent?" "What is my thing?" I'm still working it out.
I think the quote above somehow relates to the idea that I need to create something new or fresh to channel and epitomize the quality that makes me unique. If I don't strive to progress or distinguish myself by searching for and developing that thing, then I risk falling into the abyss of mediocrity. Needless to say, that's not where I want to be.
Have any of you realized your gifts? I'm curious how it happened.
