Falling into Fall

What would prompt you to take a fly across the country for the weekend? Would it be to see a friend who has been MIA for 9 months? Could it be the promise of the best pie you've ever tasted? How about an opportunity to see the foliage on the Shenandoah? Or maybe a happenstance viewing of the National Jousting Competition?

Whichever you chose, you are right! Amicinq reunited for a special edition Dave-a-palooza in Virginia, so naturally it was called Mid-Daxapalooza.

On our trip, we had a chance to...

1. Go to some cool Monuments in D.C.
2. Witness the National Jousting Competition (which took place in a church lawn and had such gems as "Fair Maiden of Marshmallow, CHARGE!)
3. Have some family/friend fun apple picking and pumpkin carving
3.1 Try Pere's famous apple pie. It was probably the best apple pie I have ever tasted and more than worth the trip.
4. Drive to Gettysburg and had a picnic lunch on Little Round Top. Gorgeous!
5. See Skyline Drive at sunset. This was definitely a highlight because Moulin Rouge was our soundtrack and as we came around the bend to face the sunlit mountains we got " I will always love you."
6. Visit the duck pond, the old house, and traveled the way to Dave's old school.

Overall, it was a beautiful trip. Don't worry, more pictures are forthcoming. (To see the ones I took go here.) This trip reminded me of how much I miss about the East Coast and how much I can't wait to move back.

A very big thanks to the Axelgard family for making it all possible, for being so sweet while we crowded their home, and for having fun with us.
