Corn-y?

I apologize for the delay in posts. I have been a busy lady. Grad school is fantastic and DC is amazing. I am consistently filled with wonderment that this is really my life. I love my new friends from school. I love that I get to live in such a beautiful and interesting and intelligent city. So much to say. At this point it's impossible to recover from my long absence in posting so I will simply start over.
About two weeks ago, at a party, I heard about a corn maze in VA. Being the obnoxious iPhone person I am, I immediately asked the kid the link so I could look it up, and made him describe his experience in detail. The place is Corn Maze in The Plains. Awesome! And, The Plains is the name of the city. It is what it sounds like. You go out to a farm and walk around in a maze cut out of corn. When he told me about it, it sounded kind of cheesy but I thought, "Hey, maybe someone else will want to do this."

I love my crew from GW for many reasons but chiefly because I can be a dork and they are on board with it. I mentioned that I heard about this weird corn maze thing in VA, and a ton of people wanted to participate. Settled. A bunch of 20-30 somethings wanted to drive to the middle of nowhere on a Friday night to tackle a corn maze. So what did I do? I created an event on Facebook. I wrangled rides and placed everyone into cars and we headed out to the country. Done and done.

After an 1 1/2 hour car ride, we were ready to start. Some little lady gave us a schpeel about directions, not getting "corn-fused" and looking for the "corn-el" if we got lost. I was laughing so hard at the bad jokes I missed all that stuff. Our mission- to shade all areas of this crazy corn map, answer agricultural questions, and try to come in first place. We were off.

It was a lot of fun to wander through the maze with Claymore, Matt and Bridgette's beagle, leading the way. We were a strong third place. LOL! Keep in mind that it was about 31 degrees. F-ing freezing! I for one was focusing my attentions on keeping warm first and the map second. The Raynaud's wasn't terrible so I made it through ok.

We wrapped up the maze, snagged some warm cider and defrosted by a fire pit. What a great night!
