ComiCon 2009

I have to say I thought I was a nerd and it was confirmed on Thursday, July 23rd. I was totally in my element. I got to be around who people who watch and love my shows just as much, if not more, than I do. Click here to see my pics.

I bought my tickets completely in the dark as to who would be going and what would be happening. Of course, my not-so-secret crush Chuck Bartowski (aka-Agent Charles Carmichael) was a main reason for my interest in going but it turns out more of my other shows and peeps were there too. True Blood, Lost, Psych, AND Fringe were there. Awesome!!

The new Alice in Wonderland, Tron, and Avatar movies were in there too but I didn't get to see them because of the Twilight tweens and their moms who camped out and took up all the seats in Hall H. I was bummed to miss Avatar because that's Jarom's pic from New Zealand and it is supposed to be fantastic. I can't wait to see it.

If you're interested here are some of the prized shots from my ComiCon experience. People watching was amazing!

If my pics didn't do it for you here's some other info. from the LA Times and from my pal Zen in our marketing dept.

For anyone interested in going, I would advise you that Thursday (Day 1) is the day for premieres of new shows/movies Friday (Day 2) is more industry/toy related for those looking to get in (it's more technical). Saturday (Day 3) is fandemonium. It's insanely crowded and most of the big stuff that are fan faves come that day. Sunday (Day 4) is the fam day and everything winds down by 6pm.

I'm Alive!

I have been uber busy getting ready to go. Sadly, I haven't been able to do all of the things on my list but I guess that will give me something to look forward to on vacations.

This declarative statement is important because for some reason I have this inner voice compelling me to do as much as possible in a short amount of time as if there is no future available to me. I usually feel it's now or never. That I won't be around for long enough to make real long term plans so I have to squeeze as much out of life as possible in a short amount of time. However, recently I realized that there is a future out there.

It became more clear to me that I would be justified in taking more time and making future plans because of a recent scary experience. On my birthday I had my first car accident. It was shocking. Katie, Tiff and I were coming back from Birds and POW! Some idiot completely ran a red light,"T"ed the car (Jordan's Prius) and totaled it. Thank God for side airbags. Seriously. Katie and Tiff would have been toast without them. Read here for Tiff's take.

A car accident is common enough but something I never expected. Yet when it happened I was surprised at how lucky we were. Despite my airbag failing to deploy or Katie and I having to be lifted from the car or having the doors peeled off so Tiffany could escape, we made it out of the situation with only minor bruising. I was so filled with thanks for our safety and security and the goodwill of thirty bystanders that I was able to handle the situation with a cool head. Now I feel like there is some sort of real reason I'm here. What it is I don't know but I would like to find out soon.

The List

What to do before I leave?

I have lived here for eight years and before I leave for DC I have to do some thangs...

I am starting to assemble a little list of things to do before I take off on August 1st. Here are some of my ideas so far.

1. Dinner in Old Town Pasadena and go to the Ice House
2. Go to Griffith Park at night to see the stars with a picnic
3. See the Groundlings show
4. See a set at The Jazz Bakery, buy gluten free goodies from The Sensitive Baker, go vegan at M Cafe and dance to blues at Babe 'n Ricky's
5. Go to Danny's Dance Warehouse
6. Dance it up in Hollywood
7. Hike/people watch at Griffith Park.
8. Surf at San Onofre.
9. Beach Day in Laguna with the girls.
10. Salsa dancing with Katie & Rosa.
11. Upright Citizen's Brigade encore night
12. Air conditioned-Gucci is always in style.
13. Santa Barbara day complete with horses, kayaks, and beautiful scenery.

If you think of something fun that I left out, let me know. I'll be down...
